About this property

Welcome to The Whitehall Hotel

Housed in an elegant 1920s building, The Whitehall Hotel offers a blend of classic charm and practical amenities. Its on-site Asian restaurant, Kirei, provides dining options just steps from guest rooms, while event spaces accommodate meetings and banquets. The property features essential conveniences such as free Wi-Fi, air conditioning, a business center, and a fitness facility, alongside services like room service, laundry, and pet-friendly accommodations. Despite the absence of a pool and airport shuttle, the hotel supports accessibility needs and caters to both families and business travelers.

Located at 105 E Delaware Place, this hotel sits in a central area near Chicago’s Magnificent Mile, putting luxury shops, iconic structures like the Wrigley Building, and attractions such as Navy Pier within easy reach. Guests frequently highlight the convenient location as a strong advantage, allowing exploration of major sights like The Art Institute of Chicago and Millennium Park without extensive travel. The Whitehall is also well-connected to Chicago O'Hare and Midway airports, with approximately 30 minutes by car.

Guest reviews commonly praise the helpfulness and attentiveness of the staff, particularly noting front desk service that eases arrival and check-in. Rooms are described as comfortable and clean, though the property’s older style is apparent and some modern features, such as USB outlets, are missed. Exceptional service – truly above and beyond Our stay at The Whitehall Hotel started in the best possible way thanks to Cheryc at the front desk. From the moment we arrived very early in the morning after an international flight, she was incredibly kind, professional, and genuinely welcoming. She went above and beyond to make us feel taken care of, helping us settle in smoothly and making our arrival completely stress-free. Her attitude, warmth, and attention to detail truly reflect what great hospitality should be. The hotel is very well located, comfortable, and welcoming, but Cheryc’s service alone made this stay exceptional. She is a true asset to the hotel and deserves special recognition. We would absolutely stay here again and highly recommend The Whitehall Hotel to anyone visiting Chicago.

Admittedly, this is an older hotel. However, it is clean, well kept, the beds are comfy and I can't pinpoint any shortcomings other than that the plug ins on the nightside table are actual plug ins instead of USB ports. The staff is FANTASTIC. The food is better than at most restaurants three times the price. The location is unbelievable. The service -- better than I expect at hotels many times the price. Why this place doesn't have a wait list to get in, I have no idea. Do NOT let the low price per night deter you. This place has become my Chicago GO TO, and I have stayed at 2 Marriotts, and a Hyatt. They can't touch this place.

The 2 young men at the front desk were awesome! They were really cute and played along when I told them "Santa" reserved the room for our little girls to attend an event :-) The ladies tending breakfast were sweet and hospitable. Beds were comfortable. Room was clean. Fantastic location and easy to walk to non-touristy spots for good food. Perfect for a couple nights and super affordable for even small budgets. Sure, they could spend a fortune with a complete remodel- new bathrooms, new flooring, new furniture... but for why? To increase the price and lose the affordability? Those things were fine. And I even liked the lotion and shampoo. Pic is of the view from our window on the 15th floor.

Most of the staff was very friendly and accommodating. Even though it is an older hotel, it is kept up pretty well. Breakfast and happy hour were delicious. I asked for a souvenir black W pillow, but no one got back to me about that and I was a little bummed by that. Other than that, I truly enjoyed my stay.

This is definitely an older hotel, but it's clean, tidy, and offers a retro feel that's not often seen in Chicago anymore. The room I stayed in was spacious and had all the necessary amenities to enjoy my stay. The only "negative" detail was that the shower faucet wasn't easy to turn on, but it didn't detract from my overall experience at the hotel. The service was adequate, although it could have been a bit friendlier. I particularly appreciated the early check-in service, which allows you to check in before arriving by uploading some information to the website, and the breakfast, which has many options to suit all tastes. The location is also excellent, just a few meters from Michigan Avenue and the 360 Chicago observation deck. It's definitely a hotel I would return to, without a doubt.

Very nice hotel with an affordable rate in a great location. We used spot hero for parking that was nearby but the hotel rates were pretty comparable. We were able to check in an hour early with no fees. Rooms were pleasantly spacious with a mini fridge and all the things. If any complaint the rooms could use more lights but thats very minor. The breakfast was a highlight. Eggs, bacon, waffles, fruit, juice coffee etc and in a very comfortable setting with many tables to enjoy. We were able to leave bags free of charge alter check out while we walked around the city. We were very pleased and hope to return again soon!

What a great find! Everybody that works here was so friendly and accommodating! Special shout out to Allyson the front desk and Oscar in the restaurant. I witnessed two people bullying Oscar last night after sitting there for two hours enjoying cocktails. They left without paying a $70 bill. I was floored when I watched that. Oscar was nothing but kind & patient with them. I went to the front desk to add my feedback because I thought it was appalling. They said that they have complained about everything at the hotel, but didn’t go into details as they shouldn’t have, but I wanted to let me know they were on top of it, but there was nothing they could do about their appalling behavior. This hotel is a gem in the perfect location in downtown and near the magnificent mile, a gazillion great eateries, etc.! It is a Best Western so don’t expect a Ritz Carlton , but it is a wonderful place to stay! I will return when I’m visiting the Chicago area! The restaurant is attached to the hotel is also fantastic! I told them they needed to dim the lights a little bit and they did and I paid it a much more inviting vibe :) Highly recommend!
